PEACE JOURNALISM PERSPECTIVE
How can the absurdity of humans fighting humans lead to solutions while physics, chemistry and biology have us slated for extinction? How can we contribute to rethinking and reinventing ourselves? An idea: a Pedagogy of the Rich, conceived as a companion volume to Paulo Freire´s ‘The Pedagogy of the Oppressed.’ It could also be called ‘The Pedagogy of the Unoppressed.’
This incredibly eye opening documentary reveals how a small group of super rich criminals have been buying virtually everything on earth. From media, health care, travel, food industry to governments, they seek to impose a New World Order: Bill Gates, Klaus Schwab, George Soros, etc. The names of the two companies that virtually own the world are Vanguard and BlackRock.
FEATURED RESEARCH PAPER
This paper tries to explain the origins of the Ukraine crisis. It posits that it is only a symptom of a wider conflict between two major powers (or power blocs), whose origins can only be understood by assessing the post-Cold War security architecture in Europe. Instead of having integrated Russia in a collective security organization on an equal level, the West kept NATO alive.
TMS PEACE JOURNALISM
13 Apr 2022 – “The defense industry mobilized a small army of at least 718 lobbyists and doled out more than $67 million dollars pressuring Congress for increased weapons spending generally.”
As of 13 April 2022
12 Apr 2022 – Forty years of struggle by Brazil’s landless workers movement offers lessons on engaging the system without being co-opted.
Interrelating the Opponents, Perpetrators and Victims of Human Tragedy — Known and Unknown
6 Apr 2022 – Environmental champion shares her perspective on how the degradation of the planet can be reversed by returning to traditional organic farming practices and compassionate community organization.
16 Apr 2022 – The concept of peace was first introduced into academic literature by the Norwegian pioneer of peace research Johan Galtung, who distinguished between two types of peace: positive peace and negative peace. Defining Peace itself is an arduous process and Galtung, the patriarch of formal Peace Research, has formulated the “Mini Theory of Peace”.
In 1932, Sigmund Freud and Albert Einstein exchanged letters, later published under the title ‘Why War?’ However, whatever insight these two giants of an earlier era brought to our understanding of war, the reality is that a great deal has been learned since they corresponded.
13 Apr 2022 – I and my colleagues in the New Zealand Doctors Speaking Out for Science would be happy to participate in a debate with the government ministries on the scientific and ethical points in this submission. To date the government has ignored our pleas for transparency and dialogue, opting to represent itself, incredibly enough, as a ‘single source of truth.’ This position is as ludicrous as it is harmful.
15 Apr 2022 – This war can be characterized thus:
– Level One: Russia vs. Ukraine
– Level Two: USA vs. Russia
– Level Three: Ukrainian nationalism vs. Russian-oriented separatism
13 Apr 2022 – I’m writing from Ethiopia, where the war that began in November 2020 continues, with the US backing their former puppet, the Tigrayan People’s Liberation, which ruled Ethiopia with an iron fist from 1991 to 2018, when they were finally overthrown by a popular uprising.
15 Apr 2022 – US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that he does not recognize “spheres of influence,” and the concept “should have been retired after World War II.” Those are empty words because they obviously do not apply to the Western Hemisphere–or the USA. Take Cuba, for example, or Nicaragua, Venezuela… Hypocrisy is common in international relations.
11 Apr 2022 – The coterie of neocons and liberal interventionists who orchestrated two decades of military fiascos in the Middle East and who have never been held to account are now stoking a suicidal war with Russia.
16 Apr 2022 – Compassion for Ukrainians victimized by Russia’s violence demonstrates that human hearts care. However, beneath the visible current of compassion there’s an alarming, dangerous dynamic at play.
17 Apr 2022 – Jury finds FBI agents fabricated a kidnapping threat against Michigan governor so they could be heroes by foiling a “crime” of their own creation. FBI director’s use of entrapment is part of a strategy designed to sow public fear and render support for draconian anti-terrorist legislation.
16 Apr 2022 – “Countries in the developing world with large populations like Indonesia, Brazil, and India do not support the sanctions against Russia because of the behavior of the USA, which they recognize as ‘moral hypocrisy.’” Specifically the difference between our response to the white Europeans of Ukraine and our behavior in Yemen, Iraq and Afghanistan.
12 Apr 2022 – More and more, we’re told outright war isn’t just necessary and right, but the thing that will solve U.S. existential problems.
12 Apr 2022 –The lies and double standards that corrupt the Pentagon’s latest effort to whitewash its criminal non-compliance with the Geneva Conventions. North Americans have been shocked by the death and destruction of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but the US has waged war in country after country for decades, carving swathes of destruction through cities, towns and villages on a far greater scale than has so far disfigured Ukraine.
13 Apr 2022 – Preventing populations from asking who benefits from a protracted proxy war, and who pays the price, is paramount. A closed propaganda system achieves that.
BALKANS AND EASTERN EUROPE
6 Apr 2022 – There are only a handful of Western journalists on the ground in Donbass, while the Western mainstream press is rubber-stamping fake news about the Ukrainian crisis using the same templates it previously exploited in Iraq, Libya and Syria, says Dutch independent journalist Sonja van den Ende.
10 Apr 2022 – In 2019, Zelensky was elected on an overwhelming mandate to make peace with Russia. As Stephen F. Cohen warned that year, the US chose to side with Ukraine’s far-right and fuel war.
17 Apr 2022 – We, the People witnessing a planned scheme of things to exterminate humanity with superior weapons hitting targeted civilian towns and daily bloodbath as a new normal. Have we not learned any lessons from the European nationalistic wars of First and Second World Wars?
13 Apr 2022 – The popular Bollywood film, powered by a visceral demonisation of the Kashmiri Muslim, attempts to construct the truth about Kashmir out of the carcasses of facts.
LATIN AMERICA AND THE CARIBBEAN
On 7 Apr 2022, the socialist government of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro celebrated the delivery of a record 4 million homes to its citizens as part of a social housing program called the Great Housing Mission of Venezuela launched by Commander Hugo Chávez in 2011.
PALESTINE – ISRAEL
13 Apr 2022 – If Israel continues to subjugate the Palestinian people under the current system of military occupation and deepening apartheid, Palestinians will surely continue to respond until their oppressive reality is changed.
14 Apr 2022 – The world’s richest person, Elon Musk, yesterday offered $43 billion — cash — to buy Twitter so he can “unlock” its “potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe.”
Elon Musk, Twitter’s Largest Shareholder: We Can’t Let Billionaires Control Major Communications PlatformsVictor Pickard | The Nation – TRANSCEND Media Service
14 Apr 2022 – Elon Musk, the billionaire Tesla CEO notorious for posting asinine tweets to his 80 million–plus Twitter followers, has purchased himself a position of power within the platform itself by becoming the company’s largest shareholder–and that’s bad news.
12 Apr 2022 – Ever-mounting media consolidation has narrowed the perspectives the public is privy to. Ownership and funding of these corporations are riddled with conflicts of interest and Big Tech companies are outright censoring and demonetizing independent outlets.
14 Apr 2022 – Propaganda for a bigger and longer Ukraine war is flooding the media on MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, NY Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal in attempts to manipulate public opinion.
11 Apr 2022 – Data brokering is the multi million-dollar industry of collecting personal information and then reselling or sharing it with marketers and others. Data brokers are “the middlemen of surveillance capitalism.” “They know significantly more about you than you might like and do significantly more with it than you might think,” Oliver said.
17 Apr 2022 – How Pentagon Contractors Are Cashing in on the Ukraine Crisis
14 Apr 2022 – To the motives for war in human history, capitalism added another: profit. Ukraine, per se, is not the issue. It is tragically a war-ravaged pawn in a much larger conflict.
DEBATES ON COVID – VACCINES
15 Apr 2022 – VAERS data released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention included a total of 1,226,314 reports of adverse events from all age groups following COVID vaccines, including 26,976 deaths and 219,865 serious injuries between Dec. 14, 2020, and April 8, 2022.
